Sports Day Details – Friday 26th May 2023

On Friday 26th May, we are holding our Sports day. If the weather looks uncertain we will try to make a decision as early as possible as to whether the sports day will go ahead but please bear with us; it is not always an easy decision to make at 8:30am!

The timings for the day are as follows:

  • KS2 sports day will start at 9.15am. Parents, feel free to come on the field once the gates open at 8:30am-8:50am.
  • Whole school (including parents) picnic lunch between 12.00pm – 12.35pm. The side gates will be open over lunch. All children then go back to classes, for Year R & KS1 to get ready for the afternoon events.
  • YearR & KS1 sports will start at 1.00pm. Again, the side gates will be open until 1pm. We will be finished by the end of the school day.

What children should wear: On the day the children should all come to school dressed in their sports kit, wearing the coloured t-shirt for their team, without big logos if possible. We have emailed out a reminder of your child’s colour team. If it is overcast, they may want to wear jogging bottoms (any colour) and their named school sweatshirt. They should also bring a named water bottle, a named sunhat and sun-cream.

Lunch: Whatever the weather on the day, all children will need to bring a packed lunch as hot meals will not be available. A packed lunch can be prepared by the school (free for those in YR, Y1 and Y2 and those entitled to free school meals, and at cost to other children as usual). For each of your children, please complete this form, even if you don’t need a school packed lunch. A reminder that we are a nut free school, so the children’s packed lunches should be (and parents’ too!). This includes Nutella.

Parents: We are inviting parents to join us for the morning/ afternoon or day but also to have a picnic lunch on the field with their child/children. Please ensure your child brings their lunch into class with them in the morning as they will still need it even if it rains. KS1 children will need collecting from their classrooms and KS2 children will come out and join you once they have their lunches.

Parking: There will be no parking available at the Community Centre or in the school car park. There may well be traffic wardens out and about so please if possible leave your car at home and walk to school. If you do drive please park legally and with consideration to our neighbours. Thank you.

Format: As many parents praised our new style sports day format in previous years, we will be returning to the same format this year. Parents will be following their children’s teams around 4 activities and then can be positioned for the other races as we have in the past.

A few rules: We ask that you do not put any belongings too close to the running track, otherwise we will need to ask you to move. Toddlers should be kept off any activities and the race track at the end. Parents are welcome to bring rugs or chairs to sit on as we are not able to provide seating. As always, wine or alcohol is strictly forbidden, as is smoking.

Where should I start to watch my child? Below shows where your child/children’s team will start. This is where parents will want to start on the day.
