Final call – Parents Evenings

Booking for our Autumn Term parents evenings is now open. Click here to book.

You are invited to book a 10 minute appointment to meet with your child’s class teacher(s) in person. Appointments will run from 3:40pm to 6:50pm on both evenings. You will have received an email from school on Tuesday 24th September with details about how to book online. Bookings will close on Monday 14th Oct at 12pm.

Information about Christmas Shoeboxes

Christmas Shoeboxes for Rotary Shoebox Scheme

You may have heard about bringing in an item for the shoebox appeal. To summarise:

Each class is putting together a shoebox full of items to be sent to children in Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Ukraine
Your child’s teacher will share with them information about what to bring, as well as the intended age and gender of the child.
See the list below. Any spare items will be used to form additional shoeboxes.
Please bring these in by Tuesday 8th October, and earlier if possible.

Headlines

For Years R, 1 and 2 – please would you have a school meal this Thursday, 3rd October? It’s free, and as it’s census day, it determines how much funding we get next year. More meals served = more funding. We’ll be having fish fingers with chips, vegan fajita wrap with chips and pasta with tomato sauce.
Our children made the Basingstoke Gazette, BBC news and may be on HampshireTV on Monday evening. All regarding stopping budget cuts to SCPOs.
Well done to our children who put themselves forward for our school elections, as well as those who were duly elected!

Katie’s Dash in the Dark!

Well done to Katie and her family who ran 5k for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

Katie ran it in about 37 minutes and raised £90! Whilst she was running, she kept encouraging all those around her to keep going, telling them all they could make it. Many of the runners around her were really grateful for her words of encouragement.

Allergy Update

As a result of a recent Government report, we can confirm that our caterers, Pabulum, will not be including mustard in any recipes on the school standard menu or allergy menus. This will protect all children and staff with nut allergies.

Headlines

Good luck to Harry (3SG), Sophia (6C) and Jackson (6B) who are presenting at a Hampshire County Council meeting on Monday morning, sharing our view on why the School Crossing Patrol Officer budget should not be cut! Huge thanks to Dave Payne for presenting, too. We’ll keep you posted!

All children will have an individual photograph taken on Monday 23rd September.

Please ensure your child has their school jumper or cardigan in school on this day.

Year R will not be having PE on this day and should come in their usual school uniform.

For other classes with PE, children should wear their school polo shirts and green jumper or cardigan with their PE joggers/leggings/shorts and trainers.

Children in Years 1-6 can apply for a range of responsibilities in school, and we have an election day next Friday 27th September. Children need to apply (online) by 23rd September – a really easy application form. Perhaps you could help your child with it?! Full details are here.

We have received several complaints from local residents regarding inconsiderate parking at pick up and drop off times. Could you please remain respectful to our residents and follow the usual parking rules even if this means parking further away from school.

Well done!

Ellie and Charlie in year 5 recently created clay coil pots for the Willis and Sailsbury Museum exhibition which was called ‘The Time Studio’. They showed great resilience as it’s not an easy task and never gave up! Their pieces were then displayed in the museum.
