World Book Day – 1st March
On Thursday, 1st March, we will celebrate World Book Day.
To make this day special and memorable, children are invited to dress as a character from one of their favourite books. This is optional, and can be completely free with a bit of creativity. Certificates will be awarded to all who take part and display their love of reading and the characters we uncover in a good book.
Throughout the week, we will be thinking about the importance of characterisation in stories. There will be an opportunity for children to enter a competition where they can create a brand new character who could feature in a sequel of their favourite story. Entry forms and further details will be available from school on Monday, 19th February. There will be prizes to win so we hope as many children as possible will be inspired to be creative!
We hope to celebrate the telling of stories, the listening to and the reading of stories, both in school and at home. Children who read, succeed!
The ‘design your own character’ sheets are here: PDF or DOC.
Want to know how to help your child with their reading? See some ideas here for KS1 or KS2.
Take part in a book quiz here! KS1 or KS2 or find other resources here!.
