Helpful Reminders:

Please do not feel like you have to complete all of the activities provided in one day. Anything you can do is fantastic! Please remember to check the ‘ongoing daily activities’ section of this post as there is sometimes new information here.

Don’t forget you can email us on year1@stmarksce.org.uk. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password, need some help, want to show us your work or even just say hello! Please get your grown up’s permission before you email us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.

Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.

Ongoing Daily Activities

Here are some examples of daily activities you could be doing at home. Please do not feel the need to complete all of these in one day – anything you can do is great!

  • Read for at least 20 minutes a day. This can be their school reading book or a book from home.
  • Have stories read to them
  • Practise naming the letters of the alphabet and sing the alphabet song (capital and lower case)
  • Threading/Play dough/Cutting/Colouring/Painting
  • Phonicsplay Obb and Bob (Click: Phase 5 – Revise all Phase 5): https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/PicnicOnPluto.html
  • Phonicsbloom – Phase 5 or 6 (Especially useful if phonicsplay is not working for you) https://www.phonicsbloom.com/

school

  • Saying them aloud (you could put them into a song)
  • Writing them down
  • Painting them
  • Put them into a sentence

English

We are continuing our work looking at ‘Mrs Armitage on Wheels’. Choose one or two pictures on the slides and write some words about what you can see. Use the slides provided HERE to write some sentences about those pictures using ‘and’. You should talk about what is on the bike. There are some helpful sentence starters for you to use if you would like.

Maths

This activity focuses on counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. There is a sheet available for children to complete where possible. If not, we encourage you to spend time practising counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s to 100 with your child. This could be verbally, part of a song, jumping while counting, writing the numbers down, or counting objects around the house in groups of this number. Click Here: Count in 2,5,10’s 20th March

Topic

DT: Look at the slides attached HERE. Create a slider together. You will need: paper, scissors and glue/tape. Please do not feel like you need to go and buy these things.
