17th November 2023 Newsletter

A note from Mr Applegate

The children had a great time with David Ribi from this year’s Peter Pan 2 Anvil Panto. The Anvil have given us a family ticket for the 6pm showing on Friday 15th December for our Fosm Christmas raffle !! Tickets have been sent home and stubs/ money needs to be back in by this Wednesday. Thank you.

The children also enjoyed learning about anti-bullying week and have written some amazing poems. We are very proud of each and every child.

Finally, Year R-6 Christmas tickets have been emailed out this week. The children are getting prepared!

We at SCL wanted to take this opportunity to update you regarding the After School Care Club that we operate. We have had quite a turbulent term in terms of staffing but are now in a position to provide a positive update. We have a new Site Leader currently on boarding with us aswell as another permanent assistant that will enable us to return to a more consistent delivery team moving forwards. We are hoping to have both staff members in the business by the beginning of December and will continue to update regarding this. We are also aware that the provision at Hatch Warren Community Centre is due to close on Friday 24th November. We are continuing to recruit for further staff members that will enable us to offer additional spaces to facilitate the increased the demand that this service closing will bring. We will continue to update you and as soon as we are in position to increase capacity we will notify the school that additional spaces have become available. If you would like to, you can bring in some money so that you can purchase some of our ‘Be Bright, Be Seen’ slap bands for £1 or reflectors for 50p. We will be selling these during playtimes and lunchtimes next week.

Our target over the year is 97%. Last year’s attendance was 95.8% – above national levels, but we’d like it to be much higher.

Attendance below 95% is of concern to the school & you will be contacted automatically.10 days unauthorised absences for holidays over the year mean you will only achieve 95% attendance. Sickness & medical appointments, although usually unavoidable & authorised, will add further to your child’s absence record.	95% = 10 days

What to wear

Children should wear PE kit to school on the days they have PE. When children have gym, please can they bring or wear shorts underneath. PE kit guide:
- Navy or black shorts. Jogging bottoms for outside in cold weather (leggings are fine too).
- PE skirts with cycling-style shorts are acceptable.
- White t-shirt. Please also wear the school jumper to school on PE days. Football shirts are not acceptable as PE kit.
- Trainers for all children.
After School Clubs
- When do clubs start? KS1 and KS2 choirs start week beginning Monday 11th September. Planet Education clubs start week beginning Monday 18th September. All other clubs start week beginning Monday 18th September.
