David Attenborough – our most famous Agent of Change
Read this amazing letter sent by Jack in Year 4 – and see the response!
Dear Sir Attenborough,
My name is Jack and I am 9 years old. At my school we have a thing called ‘Agents of Change’. The aim is to make the world a better place. We need to look after the world because we only have this one planet. I became an agent by litter picking with my best friend Liam and his sisters. I think you are an amazing Agent of Change, so I am sending you a badge. As you are very famous on telly do you have any advice on other things we could do to keep our planet healthy and happy?
Thank you. Yours Sincerely… Jack
Pastoral Drop-In Session
The St Mark’s pastoral team will be hosting a parent and carer drop-in session every half term, each with a different focus.
Our next parent drop in will be held on Wednesday 22nd March 8.30-9.30am in the church. The Basingstoke Family Support Service will be coming in to chat through the different support they offer to families, including parenting courses and parenting strategies. Mrs Delves and Mrs Elms will also be on hand with a cup of tea and a biscuit to talk through any concerns you may have. Younger children welcome too!
Meet the team here: Pastoral team
Athletics Success
Congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 Indoor Athletics team who won the Basingstoke Athletics competition against several other schools!

French Day is coming!
On Thursday 30th March, we are having a “French Culture Day”. We’ll be having a ‘Big French Breakfast’ to start the day. Thank you to Andros UK and Bonne Maman for your support of our Grand Petit Dejeuner. Bread, jam, cheese and hot chocolate will be served (allergies taken into account, too).
We are looking for adults who speak French to help us out by reading a story to our children in French. We can be flexible with times. Please let us know.

Agents of Change in Year 4!
This week we have detected a class at work as Agents of Change! Please take a moment to look at these posters made by 4W to help promote animals that need rehoming. Good work agents! They also raised £112 for the NSPCA.

Music of the Week!
The Hebrides: Mendelssohn
Felix Mendelssohn was a German composer in the Romantic Era. This piece of music was inspired by a trip to Scotland when he visited the island of Staffa with its sea cave known as Fingal’s Cave. This tune popped into his head whilst he was there and he wrote it down on a postcard to send back home to his family.
