Year 3 – Monday 27th April

Good Morning Year 3

What super work you sent us on Friday of your Bee fact sheets and other things you have been up to – see some below! We hope you had a nice rest over the weekend and were able to enjoy the sunshine outside for your walk or in your garden. Please remember to do as much or as you can whilst your grown-ups are trying to work, we will be proud of you for trying your best in all you do!

Please do send you work in, as and when you can – we will add photos throughout the week.

Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book. in your homework book (if you have it at home) or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.

Note for parents:
* Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do them independently.
* We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.
* The work we have set should take about 2 hours maximum spread throughout the day.
* Please note the ongoing activities are optional and could be completed once a week or more depending on time.

Maths

Today, we are continuing our work on Fractions using the White Rose Maths Lessons. This will involve watching the video clip and completing the worksheet. There is an answer sheet to check your work.

Please complete Summer 1 (w/c 20 April) Lesson 1 – Equivalent Fractions 2 – This lesson builds on your knowledge from Friday’s work on equivalent fractions, you will use numberlines to compare fractions and also look at how we can multiply the numerator and the denominator by the same number to get an equivalent fraction.

Please remember if you don’t have a printer you can copy into your maths book or onto paper. Try and complete as best as you can.

When you have finished use the answer sheet to mark your work.

Things to remember

Remember the denominator (the bottom number) tells you how many equal parts you divide the whole into. So if you are finding 2/3 the 3 will tell you how many sections to split your numberline into.
The numberlines need to be the same length when comparing fractions.
For question 4 and 5 remember you can multiply the numerator and the denominator by the same number to give you an equivalent fraction e.g. An equivalent fraction to 2/5 = 4/10 because if we look at 2/5 the numerator of 2 x 2 = 4 and the denominator 5 x 2 = 10 so this creates the fraction 4/10.

Science

What’s one of the most important things that plants need to grow? That’s right, water!

Today, we are going to investigate just how plants use water to grow healthily. Work through the Power Point and watch the video clip. Afterwards, you can choose which activity you would like to complete.
