It was great to see everyone who came to visit our toy museum yesterday. The children loved showing you all their learning from this half term and talk about all the toys. It was also great to share our learning with Year R and Year 3.
Later in the day, we also enjoyed finding out about how teddy bears have changed. We looked at some old and new teddies and created our own timeline for them.
Over the past two days, 25 organisations and business have run a stall at our careers fair. The children have been amazing – confident in asking excellent questions, polite in their listening, and really thinking about the jobs on show. We are so proud of them, and of course massively thankful to the adults who made it happen.
Can I encourage you to take a browse through the website here – Careers Companion. It’s a dedicated site for thinking about opportunities in the future. As the children have been in the careers fair, it is a good time to capitalise on the discussions!
2. Check out the times for visiting our careers fair with your child. It’s this week!
3. Pop-in to speak with Paul Hay, 13th Feb PM, an internet safety expert. Details below.

A huge well done to Hannah B in Year 5, who made it to the county table tennis tournament in Southampton on Sunday. Hannah made it to the final, but was narrowly beaten. Amazing effort!
Careers fair – Remember, as parents and carers, you are invited to join your child in visiting the stalls. The timings and organisations involved are as follows:
We’re also celebrating ‘Find Your Brave’ week, part of children’s mental health week. Bravery comes in all shapes and sizes and is different for everyone. Bravery isn’t about coping alone or holding things in. It’s about finding positive ways to deal with things that might be difficult, overcoming physical and mental challenges and looking after yourself. We all have times when we need to Find our Brave. Click here to find out more. Also check out the parents menu on our website, which has lots of information about mental health.
Great opportunity for learning about E-Safety – Thurs 13th Feb
Our children live in the Internet Age. They love to use technology and play the latest games. However, it is not always easy for parents and carers to understand what they are doing and how we can help to do the right things to keep them out of danger.
On Thursday 13th February, we will be having a special Internet Safety Day. The children will learn about going on line and how to keep safe. During the evening of this day, we would like to invite all parents to a special parents ‘drop in’ session with a guest speaker, Paul Hay, who is a specialist in Internet Safety. He will be available to answer questions you may have on an individual basis, explain how some apps/programs work and support you with how to keep your children safe online. This is from 4pm-6:30pm.
Above all, it will give you, as parents and carers, the confidence to help your child get the most benefit and enjoyment from the internet while keeping safe

Your child may have been talking about feeling ‘red’ or ‘yellow’. What does this mean? Well, St Mark’s are adopting a really helpful way for children to identify and talk about their emotional state- even when they are angry or anxious! Identifying the colour helps children to know how to move towards a more settled state, which may not always been straight to green. It also enables them to know ‘it’s ok to feel this way’, although we are still responsible for our actions. Why not talk through it with your child?
