Dance Live Success

60 of our KS2 children took part in DanceLive, a national dance competition held at the Portsmouth Guidhall. They were absoultely amazing! We are incredibly proud of their effort, their skill, their manners and their enthusiasm. A special thanks to Mrs Woods who led the project, and to all the other adults who supported in a variety of ways. Well done to Mrs Boyle who won a video award, too!

Singing and Music Success

Well done to our KS1 Choir, KS2 Choir and Ensemble for their efforts and success at a Basingstoke Music Festival last weekend. Our KS1 Choir took first place, as did our Ensemble. Our KS2 Choir were outstanding, too. Again, thank you to our staff who make all of this possible for the children.

Pastoral Drop-In Session

The St Mark’s pastoral team will be hosting a parent and carer drop-in session every half term, each with a different focus.

Our next parent drop in will be held on Wednesday 22nd March 8.30-9.30am in the church. The Basingstoke Family Support Service will be coming in to chat through the different support they offer to families, including parenting courses and parenting strategies. Mrs Delves and Mrs Elms will also be on hand with a cup of tea and a biscuit to talk through any concerns you may have. Younger children welcome too!

Meet the team here: Pastoral team

Agent of Change – Chef Special!

This week we have detected a very special Agent at work….this time an inside job!

Neil Dance – our very own Executive Chef Manager at St Mark’s in our wonderful Pabulum team – has been awarded the Agents of Change award!

This award has been given to Neil in recognition of the positive impact he has had on the pupils at St Mark’s, in particular by inspiring children to cook! The nominations and votes were awarded by the pupils and teachers.

Well done Agent Neil….and thank you for all you do!

Could YOU be our next Agent of Change??

Do you speak French?

On Thursday 30th March, we are having a “French Culture Day”. We are looking for adults who speak French to help us out by reading a story to our children in French. We can be flexible with times. Please let us know.

Enjoy these lovely poems by lovely pupils!

“What a wonderful St Mark’s”

I see the colourful rainbow bench.
I see hard rocks.
I hear Simba barking.
I feel joyful and happy.
What a wonderful St Mark’s.

I see the quiet library.
I hear lovely carols.
I feel grateful.
What a wonderful St Mark’s.

I see fluffy Simba.
I hear teachers teaching.
I feel happy.
What a wonderful St Mark’s!

Thank you Snow Angels

A massive thank you to the adults who helped clear paths and the car park on Wednesday morning. You’re amazing!

Music of the Week!

Pachelbel: Canon in D

Pachelbel was a German composer who lived from 1653 – 1706. His music was from the Baroque era which comes before the classical period. In music, a canon is made by different instruments that plays the same music starting at different times. Can you hear it in this piece of music?
