Year 5 Learning Update – Spring 1
What an amazing half term! The Year 5 children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Vikings and have shown themselves to be expert historians! Through their history learning, they have challenged stereotypes and learned about where these stereotypes originally came from and also gained lots of knowledge about the Vikings themselves. We used the Vikings to inspire lots of our other learning too – Viking stories in English, Viking chanting in Music, making Viking doodlers in D&T to write Viking runes… it’s been amazing. We also finished off the topic with the most incredible trip to Ufton Court. The children engaged in battle skills (complete with face paint), learned Viking skills (weaving, wall building and spark making) and went on a Viking boat to raid other countries too. It was a fun packed, informative day and the children shone so brightly.
We also wanted to congratulate children on amazing Mad Hair Day. The children raised over £100 for St Michael’s Hospice and are truly all showing themselves to be Agents of Change!
