Year 2 – Friday 1st May
Good Morning Year 2
Hello Year 2,
How are you today? We hope you are all well. Its a Friday, and its also the first day of May! We hope you have all had a hearty breakfast, and are ready for another day of learning. Remember to try and find time to read a book today as it is one of the most important tasks that you can do to support your learning and you can find lots of hidden treasures in a good book. It can take you on adventures to different times and places. Where will your book take you today?
We have loved reading your pirate stories. You have all tried incredibly hard with these, and you should be really proud of you work!
We can reveal that you have all been fantastic pirates, and have found all of the clues to reveal all of the parts of the treasure map! Your last challenge is to unscramble the pieces of the map, and put them together to find where x marks the spot! Can you find where the treasure is? If you are successful, you can unlock the special treat that you have all earned for all of your hard work!
HeartSmart Worship
As it is Friday, you will find a lovely HeartSmart worship to do together here. We are looking at HeartSmart ‘Don’t Rub it in- Rub it Out!’ linked with our Christian Value of Forgiveness. There is a super Boris video to watch too.
Pirate Clues! Ahoy Me Hearties!
Avast Me hearties- we found the last two pieces of the map! One was near the phone and the other under the table in between a load of school books!
Now we’ve just one thing left to do together! Solve the map and get the treasure!
Use the code to get to the map and put the pieces back together. Remember, Me Hearties, X marks the spot.
We would love to hear from you and see your lovely work, so please do not hesitate to email us at year2@stmarksce.org.uk. Enjoy your day!
Many thanks,
Year 2 Team

English
In English today, you can complete your usual Friday grammar activity. Remember, if you have decided to carry on with writing your pirate adventure story then you can miss this today.
Once you have completed your task you can check your answers. If you don’t have access to a printer, it is fine for you to talk through each question and discuss your answers rather than write them down if things a little easier.
Have fun and be great grammar detectives!

Maths
Today in maths, we have another Friday maths challenge for you to have a go at!
Similarly to last week, these problems aim to encourage you to challenge yourself, and draw on your maths knowledge to find the answers. The first two problems will be aimed at Year 2, so we suggest you focus on these, and may want to complete either, or both of these problems.
Please click on the link below to access the above problem, and others on the White Rose page. Complete ‘Lesson 5’ in ‘Summer Term – Week 2’ named ‘Friday maths challenge’. Please email us if you have any questions regarding this. Good luck!

Daily Time Fillers
Here are some additional activities for you to have a go at each day if you choose to. Please feel free to do as much or as little of these as you wish. We have added a handwriting booklet (the entire alphabet) that you could work through very gradually, not in one go. You can either print the booklet, or do this onto paper of your own at home. We look forward to seeing how amazing your handwriting will be when we see your work. The Common Exception Words should also be learnt gradually, by selecting 2 or 3 words a week that you should aim to learn along side your weekly spellings.
- 20 minutes of reading either a school book or a home book.
- Practice your 2,5 and 10 times tables using TTRockstars, or a different method.
- Practice your weekly spellings which will be provided below and on Spelling Shed, and the Year 2 Common Exception Words.

Helpful Reminders
Don’t forget you can email us on year2@stmarksce.org.uk. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password, need some help, want to show us your work or even just say hello! Please get your grown up’s permission before you email us. We look forward to hearing from you. We may not reply the same day!
Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.
Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.
