Year R – Friday 24th April

Good Morning Parrots, Puffins and Penguins!

Hello and Happy Friday!

Did you enjoy making a Wild Thing yesterday? We have added below a few of the photos we have been sent so far. Aren’t they brilliant? It’s been great to see them on Tapestry.

Today we’re going on a bear hunt! We also have a worship for you as well which includes one of our favourite songs ‘Be Bold’ which we know you know really well. Sing up children! Click here for today’s worship

If, like us, you’ve found it a bit tricky getting back into the swing of things this week, we’d like to say a big thank you for all the efforts you made – children and grown ups too. We’re so grateful that you are keeping your learning going and know it’s sometimes really hard. Well done everyone! You deserve a super weekend!

Independence

The children in Year R are very rarely asked to work independently, particularly when writing. It is expected that they will need adult support to get started on all of the tasks we set for them here, and continue to need it throughout their activity.

However, we want to continue to build their independence, so encourage them to use resources which can help them be independent like sound cards, letter formation cards for handwriting etc.

Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities with you. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.

There is absolutely no expectation that you get all, if any of these activities completed each day.

English –

Begin your activity today by listening to Mrs Mitchell reading the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. It’s down in the Video Resources section at the bottom.

It’s a lovely story isn’t it – I hope you joined in as it’s a story we all know really well.
In the story, they finally found the bear and it chased them all the way home.
Can you think of some adjectives (describing words) to describe what the bear was like?
You can think of what they bear looked like but also what is character was like.

Write a list of adjectives around the bear to describe him.
You can draw your own picture of the bear or download the bear sheet below.

Maths –

Are you ready to play? We’ve got a bit of a game to play but first you are going to need to go and get your favourite teddy bear! Ready ..3..2..1 off you go!!!

Are you back? Are you snuggling your bear? Good then I can tell you and your bear what we are going to do….. We’re going to go on our very own Bear Hunt!!!

First of all you are going to go and hide your bear somewhere in your house then send your grown up to go and find it. When they find it, they have got to use positional language to describe where it is.

E.g. It is ON TOP of the chair. It is UNDER the table. It is BEHIND the curtain. It is NEXT TO the fridge.

Once your grown up has found the bear it will be their turn to hide it and you are going to go and on the bear hunt.
When you find it, it will be your turn to describe where it was hiding.

You can keep on taking turns hiding the bear.
Why don’t you take some photos of you on your bear hunt so we can see all the great places he hid.

We’re REALLY Going on a Bear Hunt!

We hope you enjoyed going on a bear hunt in your houses.

How do you fancy going on a bear hunt outside? Its ok, it isn’t for real bear!!

Pick one of your bears (don’t pick the one you like to snuggle best at bedtime!) and go and put in a window that people walking past can see.
Then when you next go out for a walk one day see if you can go and find one of the Year R bears hiding in someone’s window!

We know you are in touch with some of your friends from school so maybe you could arrange to walk past their house or the grown ups can mark out a little map of where the bears are and share it.
Getting outside for some fresh and exercise is very important so this should make your trips outside lots of fun.

For extra fun, why don’t paint or draw a picture of your bear.
