Year 5 – Friday 24th April

Good Morning Year 5!

WOW it’s Friday already! The first week back after the Easter holidays has gone so quickly. Here’s a little poem that we wrote to show you how much we care and hopefully make you smile!

You are all simply amazing,
Each of you trying your best
All of you working hard
Reading, writing, maths and the rest.

Finding reasons to smile.
It’s hard when we miss your faces,
Very proud we are of our three classes,
Everyone of you in different places.

Remember the words of our school song. We are growing and learning together… just in a different way right now!

It’s that time again year 5!!! We have another TT Rockstars battle with Year 4!! Today between 9am and 3pm we will be battling Year 4 again. Last time we battled we won, so lets make that happen again. Even if you can only get on for 10 minutes, please do – help us to beat year 4 again!

Thank you for sending in your descriptive writing and your art from yesterday. We were amazed by the amount of effort and detail included, they were fantastic. Please keep sending them in for us to look at.

Some of the teachers have created a Worship for this week. If you would like you access the worship, click here.

Exciting news for 5F! The long awaited Zoom video call has been scheduled for Monday 27th April at 10:30am. Miss Fowler is really looking forward to seeing as many members of 5F as she can. Your parents should have an email with details of how to log in for the chat. We will be completing a true or false European Countries quiz. For this you will need a piece of paper with true written on one side and false written on the other side (if you can’t then thumbs up and down will work too!). Miss Fowler is really looking forward to catching up.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend, enjoy your break from working and make the most of the time you can go outside and enjoying yourself. Remember to stay positive.

Helpful Reminders

Don’t forget you can email us on year5@stmarksce.org.uk. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password, need some help, want to show us your work or even just say hello! Please get your grown up’s permission before you email us. We look forward to hearing from you. We may not reply the same day!

Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.

Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.

Reading

As we haven’t been able to do Book Club, every Friday we are going to be completing a Reading Comprehension job. On the word document below there is a section of a story for you to read and then some questions for you to answer about what you have read.

Remember to use the story to help you.

Topic

Today you are going to continue to think about the Caribbean, more specifically the countries in the Caribbean. Go through the PowerPoint and then label the countries on the map using an atlas or Google Maps.
