Year 3 – Tuesday 21st April

Good Morning Year 3

Is it tricky getting back into a routine of home learning? Don’t worry do what you can. Remember you only need to be working for about 2 hours a day using the activities we suggest below. The best way to start your day is with a delicious breakfast to fill your tummy. Then why don’t you join Joe Wicks or some just dance to get you moving.

For tomorrow’s art you are going to be creating some pictures with natural materials, so when you go out for your walk maybe you can collect some twigs or leaves. Don’t worry if you don’t get out as you should be able to complete art with things in your garden. More information tomorrow. Keep emailing us your work so we can see how you are getting on or if you need some help – we are always here!

Look at some of these wonderful Varmint pictures and science work that we received yesterday. Sorry we can’t show everyone’s work but do keep sending, as we will chose different work each day. Super work Year 3 – YOU ARE THE BEST!

Note for parents:
* Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do them independently.
* We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.
* The work we have set should take about 2 hours maximum spread throughout the day.
* Please note the ongoing activities are optional and could be completed once a week or more depending on time.

Ongoing Activities

You may choose to complete these daily, weekly or a couple of times a week.

You can find lots of learning resources that we have collated on the Educating Home Page.  Click here to be redirected.

Maths

Today, we are continuing our work on Fractions using the White Rose Maths Lessons. This will involve watching the video clip and completing the worksheet. There is an answer sheet to check your work.
Please complete Week 2 Lesson 2 – Fractions of a set of objects 1 – This lesson builds on your knowledge of Fractions. Find fractions of amounts using arrays and bar models.
You can find the video and resources for today’s lesson here https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/

Make sure you click on week 2. Watch the clip and follow the instructions.

Resources you will need:
Please remember if you don’t have a printer you can copy into your maths book or onto paper. Try and complete as best as you can.

When you have finished use the answer sheet to mark your work.

Things to remember

• Remember the denominator (the bottom number) tells you how many equal parts you divide the whole into.
• For question 5, 6 and 7 you might want to draw the bar models on a separate piece of paper.  To find a quarter you will need 4 squares in your bar model, to find a third you will need 3 squares and a fifth will be 5 squares.
• Don’t forget to exchange a ten for 10 ones to help you divide them equally in questions 5c, 6b, 6c

• For question 8 you will need to draw the bar models and put the number of counters in the answer in each section to find the total.

Want an extra Maths Challenge?
