Year 5 – Friday 17th April
Good Morning Year 5
I can’t believe it’s the last day of the Easter holidays! Where have the last two weeks gone? I hope you have all managed to relax and have some fun in the sun.
All of the year 5 teachers have been incredibly busy over the Easter holidays making sure the next topic is ready to go online. The new topic is all to do with the Caribbean! Maybe you could start to have a think over the weekend about the Caribbean and what it would be like to live there.
Did you see Captain Tom Moore complete his 100th lap of his garden to raise money for the NHS Charities Together? His target was to raise £1000 but after his challenge made the headline news, he managed to raise a staggering £12 million and counting! At 99 years old, he’s truly an inspiration to us all! Well done Captain Tom Moore. This just proves that age is just a number!
Miss Thomas and I had a little bake off in our kitchens yesterday. Miss Thomas made Banana Bread and a Victoria Sponge Cake – both looked amazing when I saw her photos (just a shame I couldn’t taste either of them!). My eldest son had been asking me to make a Ginger Bread Cake for a while. I finally managed to locate all the ingredients this week and so last night, he devoured a huge piece of Ginger Bread Cake with warm custard – he was in his element! Have you been able to bake at all? What have you managed to create in kitchen?

Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.
Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.

Deux – Time capsule – Can you complete the document below to reflect on in years to come?
Trois – Den/Fort building – Can you make a den or fort and have a picnic inside?
Quatre – Pebble/Stone art – Can you decorate a pebble or stone? Perhaps you could leave it outside to make people smile when they’re completing their daily exercise.
Cinq – Postcard – Can you create a postcard to send to a loved one or a friend that you miss?
Six – Bird feeder – Can you recycle an old milk carton to turn it into a bird feeder or bath?
Sept – Shadow drawing – Can you use the lovely sunshine to create a shadow drawing?
Huit – Boris – Can you make your own Boris the robot out of recycling?
Neuf – Animation – Can you use lego or play dough to create an animation (taking lots of photographs as you change their position slightly to make it look like it’s moving)?
