Good Morning Year 5!

We hope that you have been enjoying the first few days of the Easter break and hope you are spending some time relaxing after a busy few weeks of home learning! Mrs Poole and Miss Fowler have been creative whilst completing some of the activities we suggested to you, so keep an eye out for them!

Hopefully you watched Mrs Poole’s video yesterday containing the following riddle:
You see me twice in November, once in June but never in May. What am I?

The answer was of course E!

Mrs Poole’s video for today will be posted at the bottom of the page (remember you will need your usual video password) – we can’t wait to hear from you by email at year5@stmarksce.org.uk Mrs Poole and Miss Fowler are reading the emails this week and would love to be entertained by your cheesy jokes!

The last few weeks have been strange and quite unsettling for our children.  At school we use HeartSmart as one of the tools to help children explore feelings and find ways of coping in different situations.

For just under the last 2 weeks Boris the Robot and Dave have recorded a daily message to try to share some ideas and ways to cope in these unsettling times.  They are taking a break over Easter but you can find Friday’s film by visiting https://www.heartsmart.family/

Here is a video clip from the past week which discusses ideas of things that could help children feel more settled –  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSqL6gnKgJI&t=

If you want to catch up with past daily videos you can find them on this you tube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCtplPW0JUOfN-J6-rnK4wA?sub_confirmation=1

As some children will be more aware of the challenges that are going on around us, it may be beneficial to watch the clips first to ensure you are happy with the issues being discussed in some of the clips.

We hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

Ongoing Weekly Activity Ideas

On Monday, we posted some ideas of activities that you could complete this week. Here is a little reminder of our ideas:

  • Baking – Can you bake a cake or pancakes?
  • Design an egg – Could you draw one on paper or maybe even draw on a real one?
  • Egg and Spoon race – Who wins out of your family? Let us know!
  • Make a card – Could you maybe send it to a friend or relative that you are missing?
  • Have an egg hunt – Can you write some clues to go with it?
  • Make an obstacle course – Could you add exercise challenges too to each station?
  • Research some Easter jokes – If you find some really funny ones, can you email them to us? We might pop some on our website!
  • Make an Easter game – What might the prize be?
  • Code breaker (On Monday’s post) – if you cracked the code, can you make up your own?

Easter Craft Example

Miss Fowler created an Easter card that she is going to send to one of her relatives. She used plain paper and colouring pens to design this masterpiece. (She may have done some googling for the inside design!)

Can you create a card too? Send us in your pictures!
