Year 4 – Friday 3rd April
Good Morning Year 4
Thank you for sending us all your Gruffalo based stories. We have loved reading them; it is lovely to see how creative you all are. Looking at your work is one of the highlights of our day. Today we are asking you to tackle some word searches and in maths to really understand where tenths fit into place value.
As today is Friday, we are having a TTRockstars battle with Year 5. Once you have played your 3 garage games, keep going to see how many correct answers you can get!
Amazingly, today is actually the last day of term, so next week will be the Easter holidays. We are not going to be setting you any work for the next 2 weeks but we will be posting a list of activities which you could try with your family. There is no need to record any of these but we hope you have fun doing them.
Make sure you have a good time and remember to stay safe.

Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.
Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.
Ongoing Daily Activities
Use your digital login to complete as many of these as you can.
- TTRockstars – We have a battle arranged with Year 5 today so play as much as you can. This might be more of a challenge than Year 3 so we will need as many players as possible.
- Numbots – Play for 15 mins
- Spelling Shed -Play 2 rounds of spelling shed
- Reading – Read for at least 20 mins
Worship
The Friday worships can be found in the ‘Educating Home’ section of the website under worship. If you haven’t seen this part of the website yet, do take a look at some of the resources for different subjects. If you are having difficulties find this section, here is a direct link:-

English – Mythical Beast Wordsearch
Well done for all of your writing this week. We have been so impressed with your creativity and vocabulary choices. Today we have created you a wordsearch including some mythical creatures. Once you have found the words, have a go at creating your own wordsearch for someone at home to complete.
Here are some tips for creating your own wordsearch:-
- Draw your grid for your wordsearch or insert a table if you are doing it on a computer.
- Make a list of the words you want to include – use a dictionary to check the spelling!
- Write or type the words into the grid – check they are all there! Remember words can go forwards, backwards, horizontally, vertically or even diagonally!
- Add random letters in all the empty boxes.
- Give your wordsearch to someone in your house to do or send it to a friend!
Don’t forget it is Friday so try to get someone to test you on your spellings. There are no new spellings as next week is the Easter holidays. If you still
want to use Spelling shed, it has some year 4 spellings on which are good to practice.
Topic – Palm Sunday
This Sunday is Palm Sunday. It is celebrated in church’s as part of the lead up to Easter Sunday.

You might like to make some palm branches by drawing round your hand on green paper or decorating some paper with green things and then attach them to a stick. Can you retell (or re-enact) the story on your own or with your siblings?
