Year 4 – Thursday 2nd April
Good Morning Year 4!
We hope you are all continuing to stay fit and healthy and are ready to do some more learning. We are all continuing to enjoy all the pictures you are sending us of your work. It really makes us feel that we are still all part of the Year 4 team.
Today you will be using the learning you have already done this week to make a variety of different outcomes, which will give you an opportunity to use pride and show off your best work.
Have a good day and share as many of your tasks as you can. Do let us know which type of task you enjoy the most as we can make sure we are including those after Easter.

Helpful Reminders
Don’t forget you can email us on year4@stmarksce.org.uk. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password, need some help, want to show us your work or even just say hello! Please get your grown up’s permission before you email us. We look forward to hearing from you.
Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.
Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.
Ongoing Daily Activities
Use your digital logins to complete as many of these as you can.
- TTRockstars – Play 3 rounds of garage and a soundcheck
- Numbots – Play for 15 mins
- Spelling Shed – Play 2 rounds of this week’s spelling
- Reading – Read for at least 20 mins
Maths – Tenths on a Numberline
We hope White Rose maths is still going well. Today’s lesson is focused on applying your decimal knowledge to a number line.

(Remember to use week 1 lesson 4)
English – Publish your Gruffalo story
Today we would like you to publish your own version of the Gruffalo. Combine your writing and your cover and maybe add in some more illustrations to make a complete book. You might like to take this opportunity to practise your handwriting – we can still reward you with pens! Alternatively if you have already typed your story you might like to change the fonts and colours and think about how you could add in some pictures/clipart. You might even like to put your final published version somewhere safe so you can stick it in your publishing book when we are back at school.
Topic – Present your research on mythical creatures
We would like you to share all the information you collected yesterday, so that you can inform others about the creatures that interested you. You could:
- create a poster
- write a fact file
- perform a Newsround style report
- publish a newspaper article
- set a quiz with an answer sheet
- make a power point presentation
Which ever you choose, use a mixture of text and pictures to make it eye-catching and try to include powerful vocabulary to make it interesting to read.
Our Goldfish
Some of you might be wondering about how are goldfish are doing. You’ll be pleased to hear that they are being well-looked after and fed daily. Bubbles and Finley are enjoying the peace and quiet. 4T never named their goldfish. If you have any good ideas do send them in to the Y4 e-mail and then we can vote on a name!
