Year R – Monday 30th March
Good Morning Penguins, Puffins and Parrots!
We hope that you are all OK and have had a wonderful weekend at home playing with your families. Did you manage to spend some time in the garden? Or were you able to go for a nice walk to get some fresh air?
Today we are going to continue thinking about farms by listening to the story ‘Farmer Duck’, In Maths, we are going to be creating our own Numberblocks and then our computer challenge is to help Peter Rabbit get ready for Cotton Tail’s party!
We love to see all the learning that you are doing at home children, keep up the good work and keep smiling. You are all superstars!

Helpful Reminders
Don’t forget you can email us on yearr@stmarksce.org.uk. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password or need some help.
You can continue to use Tapestry to share your child’s work. Please only upload one post a day. You can either choose one activity or put all the activities you complete on one post.
We look forward to hearing from you. We may not reply the same day!
Independence
The children in Year R are very rarely asked to work independently, particularly when writing. It is expected that they will need adult support to get started on all of the tasks we set for them here, and continue to need it throughout their activity.
However, we want to continue to build their independence, so encourage them to use resources which can help them be independent like sound cards, letter formation cards for handwriting etc.
Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities with you. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.
There is absolutely no expectation that you get all, if any of these activities completed each day.

English
First, watch the story of Farmer Duck read to you by Mrs Rushton. You can find it in the video resources section at the bottom of the post.
Did you enjoy the story of Farmer Duck? What was your favourite part? I liked it when the animals all worked together to get the lazy old farmer off the farm. Which of our learning behaviours were they showing?
Now, have a look some of the pictures from the story which have been put onto a story mountain. Remember to explain to your grown ups that a story mountain shows what happens at the beginning, middle and end of the story.
Can you talk to your grown up about what happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story? Can you retell the story to your grown up? Maybe you could act it out too?
Maths
Today you are going to show your grown ups how fantastic you are at using a 10s frame. Ask your grown up to give you a number (1-10), then show them how you would represent it on a 10s frame. Click here for the Tens Frame game. I wonder if you could use the 10s frame to make 10 in different ways, using the red and green dots?
Watch this week’s episode “Numberblock Castle”. Click here. Scroll through or download the flipchart for today’s activity.
Understanding the World – Technology
Peter Rabbit needs your help! He needs to collect food for Cotton-Tail’s birthday party, I wonder which level you will be able to get to? Click here to play the game
