Year 5 – Thursday 26th March

Good Morning Year 5!

We hope you are well and have been enjoying the beautiful weather this week. Miss T managed an hour and 10 minutes walk yesterday (and now has blisters). Did anyone else manage a walk?

We have heard from Maddie about another amazing resource that we wanted to share with everyone. Every morning at 11am, David Walliams is uploading an audio recording of himself reading a short story from his World’s Worst Children book, which is available to listen to for free. So if you fancy listening, they will be available from 11am each day at https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/.

I hope you are still enjoying the Joe Wicks workouts, Miss T had a go at one of his 20 minute work outs yesterday and struggled, so well done for those of you who manage the whole half an hour, you must be knackered.

Hope you have a good day and continue to stay positive and smiley.

Helpful Reminders

Don’t forget you can email us on year5@stmarksce.org.uk. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password, need some help, want to show us your work or even just say hello! Please get your grown up’s permission before you email us. We look forward to hearing from you. We may not reply the same day!

Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.

Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.

Daily Activities

Today you have 3 jobs, Maths, English and Topic. Remember to keep using the other ongoing activities:

  • TTRockstars – Miss T (Missy Flowers) online again at 3pm – she’s improving her speed daily. so bring on the challenge
  • Spelling Shed – Email in for your username and password – well done to those people who have already emailed in asking
  • Reading –  Read for at least 20 mins (remember to write in your Reading Log please)
  • Spellings – Look, say, cover, write, check everyday.

Maths

Today we are going to be trying something new with fractions. We are going to be finding fractions of amounts. Miss T has made another video for you to help you out.

English

Damian LOVED saints in Millions.  So today you are going to research about the patron saints and then make a poster about one that interests you. There is an example below so you can see the kind of things that we are hoping for.

Topic

Today you are going to learn about another Capital City in Europe – Paris. Paris is the capital of France and is well known for some very unique identity features.
