Helpful Reminders
Note for parents: Thank you for trying to hard to juggle working at home and your children’s learning. We appreciate your efforts. The learning we have seen is fantastic so do keep sending us work or photos. You can email us on year2@stmarksce.org.uk.
Note for children: We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password, need some help, want to show us your work or even just say hello! Please get your grown up’s permission before you email us. We look forward to hearing from you.
Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.
Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.
Ongoing Daily Activities
Try to add these into your day as we would in school.
- 20 minutes of reading either a school book or home book.
- Practicing your 2, 5, 10 times tables using TTRockstars, or a different method.
- Practice your weekly spellings and the Year 2 common exception words.
English
How did you get on yesterday starting The Enormous Crocodile work? Are you enjoying the story so far? Today we are going to read on and you can do that by using the PowerPoint attached. Remember to stop at the questions and see if you can answer them. Your learning job today is to create a poster warning people about The Enormous Crocodile and why we should stay away from him. Look at the helpful starting points and ideas we have attached. You can present your ideas on paper or on a computer.
Maths
Today we are going to be thinking about how many minutes make up different amounts of time, such as how many minutes there are in quarter of an hour, for example. Please work through the maths flipchart with your adult first before having a go at completing the maths worksheet. If you have a watch, try to practice telling the time frequently throughout the day.
Art-
As we are reading the Enormous Crocodile in our English, we thought that you may like to create your own Enormous Crocodile Picture in our art lesson today. You can make this in any way that you want.
You might like to:
• Draw him using pencils, felt-tips or pastels
• Collage him if you have access to some cutting and sticking materials
• Paint him if you have access to any paint at home.
• If you have an egg box or cardboard, you could even try creating a 3D model!
Be as creative as you like. We’d love to see some of your finished work! Below is a You-Tube clip that you can watch to see how to draw him using basic shapes and pattern.
