Year R – Friday 20th March
Good Morning Everyone!
How are you today? We hope you are ready for another fun filled day of activities!
Today we thought we’d give you the chance to have a little Worship time in your homes if you would like to. There are slides just like the ones we use in our class worships and your children will probably enjoy guiding you through them and explaining what we do for some of our worship routines. There’s a link to our school song “We’re Growing and Learning Together” for the end of the worship with lots of other voices on there so you won’t be singing alone!
You can find the worship slides here: https://www.stmarksprimary.net/2020/03/19/home-worship/
We also thought we’d send you some links to some exercise and music activities. At school, we call these types of activities “Activate”. We hope you have fun trying them out.
Oh and I nearly forgot – Mrs Mitchell has posted a story for you today! Enjoy!
Have a lovely day.

Helpful Reminders
We are still checking the email account regularly and have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the lovely work that you have posted onto Tapestry. Please do contact us at: yearr@stmarksce.org.uk and please continue to post and comment on Tapestry. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password, need some help, want to show us your work or even just say hello! We look forward to hearing from you.
Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.
Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or if you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.
Ongoing Daily Activities
Each day, please practise a few of these important skills:
- Reading your keywords
- Writing your name (use your laminated name card from your Summer pack)
- Forming cursive letters
- Recognising sounds (use your white phonics flashcards)
- Reading an Ebook from the following website: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/ You’ll find lots of Kipper books and even some Read Write Inc Phonics books too! Grown-ups: you will need to create a parent account which is free to do. This website is great for helping parents to understand how and what we teach your children in school and we hope you’ll find it useful.
- Counting forwards and backwards to 10
- Counting a small handful of different everyday objects
- Lining up larger numbers of items and counting them carefully and slowly, Make sure to touch each one as you move along the row of items. Each time you touch a new number say the next number name clearly. If you go higher than 10 make sure you say “teen” not “ty” (fourteen not forty).
English
The link below will take you to a fun phonics learning website called Phonics Play. They have very kindly opened up all access to the different areas and games. There is information on the site with the details of the username and log in password you will need to input. We recommend playing Buried Treasure or Picnic on Pluto and experimenting with the different Phases until your child finds that they recognise lots of the sounds. https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/BuriedTreasure2.html https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/PicnicOnPluto.html
Also try Pick aPicture at Phase 2 first. This is a good way to polish up your blending skills children! https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/PictureMatch.html
Maths
Below is a link to today’s Numberblocks Maths Activity.
Topic: Gymnastics
During PE this half term we have become Gymnasts. We have been learning all sorts of different jumps:
I wonder if you could show your grown up all the different jumps we have learnt so far.
Can you choose your favourite three jumps and put them into a sequence? Perhaps you could add a balance between each jump? Remember to show your grown up how we point our toes like gymnasts.
