2. Pop-in to speak with Paul Hay, 13th Feb anytime between 4-6:30pm.

4. Let the office know if you can help cover some of our new books. We have more sticky-back-plastic!

A huge thank you to FOSM committee and volunteers, who ran our disco Friday evening. The children loved it! Please do consider joining our FOSM committee, who are in real need of support. More details to follow. The funds raised at the moment are going towards improving our books within school.

We look forward to seeing you at parents’ evening this week. Please don’t forget to complete the survey, one per child. We value – and act on – your feedback.

Remember, it’s Internet Safety Week. Keeping your child safe online is so important – but knowing how is difficult. What are you going to learn this week as a parent or carer that helps keep your child safe?

Have a great week.

Careers Fair

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our careers fair this year. The stall holders were amazed by our pupils, and sent us these messages:

  • Your children are amazing. They were polite, engaging and asked some excellent questions. We spoke to a number of aspiring footballers, vets, doctors, teachers and even two budding chefs. They all understood that eating a balanced diet is exactly what they need to fuel their bodies for learning to be able to fulfil their career aspirations. They were pretty good at recognising the different fruits and vegetables too.
  • I have enjoyed the children’s inquisitiveness and interaction, which I think is crucial to know about the world around them.
  • The children were Very polite, but at the same time very enthusiastic and inquisitive. They asked really good questions and were very imaginative.
  • I would like to thank all the children, staff and parents that visited the Career Companion stand at this years Careers Fair. It was such a pleasure to meet you all! I was particularly impressed by the children’s insightful questions about the world of careers, and where their subject interests might be helpful. All the pupils were a credit to St Mark’s School and their families, and the world of work will be a better place for when they are ready to enter.
  • It was really lovely visiting st Mark’s school for their amazing careers fair! It was so much fun and great to meet some little musicians! All the children were really enthusiastic and engaged in the opportunity to explore what they could do with their future. It was a pleasure to be there and answer their questions. Thank you to all that took part in the song lyric competition!

In our worship this week…

… we’re thinking about the story of Saul, and his transformation on the road to Damascus. God uses each of us in different ways, and even when things look tricky, they can turn out for the good of ourselves and for others.

We’ll also be thinking about other people who help those in need.

Parking Wardens

Thanks to the pressure of local residents and school on the council, we had visits from parking wardens last week. We take the safety of our community seriously, although ultimate responsibility is down to drivers. Our job is to educate children! The main issues are parking on paths, driving too fast, and blocking driveways. We wish we could focus all our energies on education, and not parking.

Zones of Regulation

Your child may have been talking about feeling ‘red’ or ‘yellow’. What does this mean? Well, St Mark’s are adopting a really helpful way for children to identify and talk about their emotional state- even when they are angry or anxious! Identifying the colour helps  children to know how to move towards a more settled state, which may not always been straight to green. It also enables them to know ‘it’s ok to feel this way’, although we are still responsible for our actions. Why not talk through it with your child?
